TRENDnet TE100-S5 5-Port Ethernet Switch (5 x 10/100Mbps Auto-MDIX RJ-45 Ports

I bought this switch to allow me to use more than one computer and another device a Captel 800i captioned telephone on the same Verizon DSL line with a Westell 6100 modem/router. The Westell 6100 only has one ethernet port so I bought the switch to allow me to hook more devices to the internet. The ease of use hooking it up and using it is amazing. I turned off the modem/router and I plugged the switch in and hooked the dsl line to one of the ethernet ports in the switch (it doesn't matter which port!). I then hooked the ethernet lines from two computers and another from the CapTel 800i phone to the other free ports. I turned on the modem/router and started using both computers and the phone immediately. No programs to load, no set-up, no rebooting of the computers, nothing! Pure plug and play! It was stress free and absolutely wonderful. If only setting up routers and modems were this easy. A great product, reliable, easy to set-up, and use. The case looks a little cheap, but it is a great product for the money. Can't say enough about it.

I currently live in a dorm room that only allows me one Ethernet connection and they have blocked wireless into my room. Seeing as how I have a laptop and computer that I want to use in the dorm this was a problem. From my standpoint I had three options: set up a router, use an app on one computer or my smartphone as a hotspot, or buy a switch. I don't know much about routers, nor do I want to pay for one or set it up. Using my smartphone is a hassle as I'm always leaving, and a computer app seemingly gives a slow connection through a wireless card. That left me with a switch box. A pretty simple piece of equipment, right? Oh, but how valuable it can be. This little switch box is a miracle worker, there is no noticeable speed loss as you would expect and it runs smoothly 24/7. It's a very attractive small box that's twice as thick as a deck of cards and has slightly more surface area. Highly recommended product.

TRENDnet 8-Port Unmanaged Gigabit GREENnet Standard Switch (8 x 10/100/1000Mbps)

The TRENDnet TEG-S80g 8 port switch is a very simple way to expand the number of ports on your local network. I am using it to add extra ports to the Verizon, 4 port, FiOS router provided by Verizon with their FiOS installation. It is dirt simple, no set-up required. Just connect the switch to the router using an eathernet cable plugged into any port on the router and any port on the switch and you can then use the rest of the ports on the switch to connect other net components to the network. Works great! If you need even more ports, just cascade switches together. To take advantage of the switch's full Gigabit speed, use cat5e or cat6 cabling.

The TRENDnet 8-Port Unmanaged Gigabit GREENnet Standard Switch (8 x 10/100/1000Mbps) works great. Just plugged it into the modem and then plugged my four routers ( 3 wired and 1 wireless )into the switch box. I have also 2 smart TV's and 2 Smart Blu-Ray players and an all-in one printer all hooked into the switcher and have had no problems. Easy to set up, works great and have no problems with networking. Well worth the effort and money. I highly recommend this switcher for anyone uses more than one router.

Belkin USB 2.0 4-Port Ultra-Mini Hub

I have been using this hub for about 8 months to attach a hard drive and USB/ethernet adapter to my SheevaPlug which I use as a server and router. It's been carrying all the traffic for my home network, website, and other network services in that time. It runs 24/7 and is in use continuously and I have never had it blink. Excellent product. I can also confirm that, as it conforms to the USB hub spec, it works perfectly on Linux with no drivers outside of the standard USB subsystem.

I ordered this mini-hub to hook my external hard drives to my laptop. Works perfectly. I have not noticed any difference between routing the hard drives through this hub or hooking them directly to my laptop. My wireless mouse, USB game controller, and ipod all work flawlessly through this hub as well. Good value for the price.
